NOVEL PROJECT #6

14 02 2011

We continue the story of Harrison, gunsmith of Thorburg, as he faces once more the man who sought to imprison him and the dreaded knighthood to which that enemy belongs.

Tell me what you think!  This may be the last piece I share publicly, saving the rest for publication with the whole.

PART 6

Masks of the Druids, Part 6

NOVEL PROJECT #5

17 08 2010

Having narrowly escaped disaster on the sea, Harrison’s quest and that of the Druids continues.

Before anyone asks, yes, I was thinking of The Lost Sea when writing about the cave, and if this book ever becomes a movie we will film part of it on location there.

“Reminiscence” on Hitoshi Sakimoto’s Vagrant Story Soundtrack would be appropriate for this section, with “Large Chapel Garret” for the interior of the cave.  Both can be listened to on Grooveshark.com.

Please let me know what you think!

NOVEL PROJECT #4

7 08 2010

Here is the next installment of the novel, in which Harrison makes some new friends and new enemies.

I recommend “Molossus” from Hans Zimmer’s “Batman Begins” soundtrack, unless the tune is too connected to that movie for you.  I think it reflects the action and suspense of this part best.  Another good track might be “Dream Within a Dream” also by Hans Zimmer from the “Inception” soundtrack, both available on Grooveshark.com for free listening.

PART 4

Masks of the Druids, Part 4

NOVEL PROJECT #3

1 08 2010

We continue the story with a dark twist in Part 3.

I recommend “The Tree of Woe” from Basil Poledouris’ Conan the Barbarian soundtrack available on Grooveshark.com.

PART 3

Masks of the Druids, Part 3

NOVEL PROJECT #2

25 07 2010

Here is the second part of the Steampunk/Victorian fantasy novel I’m writing.  Enjoy!

I would recommend the Valendia Knights of Peace track from Hitoshi Sakimoto’s Vagrant Story Soundtrack for the musical listener.  Again, you can listen on Grooveshark.com.

NOVEL PROJECT #1

24 07 2010

So while I’ve let the blog slide for several weeks, I have been busy.

I’ve decided to post the first part of a currently untitled novel I’m writing.  I hope it will afford anyone who enjoys adventure some profitable amusement.

Please send me comments noting errors, what you like or don’t like, or any other suggestions.

NOTES ON PART 1

1.  This is a Victorian Era fantasy novel, which includes some fantastical technology.  You might call it a steampunk novel with a strong majickal component.

2.  As per usual manuscript format, things that I want to be italicized in the published version are underlined instead in the manuscript.  Deal with it.

3.  I like to write with music on.  If I were to suggest a musical theme for this novel it would be Hitoshi Sakimoto’s Vagrant Story Soundtrack.  For this first part, “Factory” might be appropriate.  As an overall theme, “Climax of the Greylands Incident” would be perfect.  You can listen to all of these for free on Grooveshark.com, so you might try listening as you read.

4.  The novel is hosted by Google Docs, so follow the link to view.

5.  The tentative title is “Masks of the Druids”
